Weatherwatch Rainfall of up to 200mm is recorded in Hunan province, the effect bolstered by the impact of Typhoon Nepartak nearby

China has often recently been plagued by heavy rain, and the past week has been no exception. Rainfall of between 100mm and 200mm was recorded last weekend, with Hunan province worst affected. The downpours triggered flooding and landslides, which destroyed houses and blocked rail lines and roads. As well as the seasonal heavy rain, the effects of Typhoon Nepartak had been felt in neighbouring provinces in the previous week.
